Black Rock Coffee Bar now open in Pflugerville

Residents of Pflugerville have a new drive-thru coffee option with the opening of Black Rock Coffee Bar, an Oregon-based coffee chain that continues to expand across Central Texas.

What they offer: The new Pflugerville location is drive-thru only and offers a menu of customizable coffee and espresso drinks, teas, smoothies and the company’s signature Fuel energy drinks.

The Pflugerville store joins other Black Rock Coffee Bar locations in Hutto, Round Rock, Cedar Park and Austin.

Island Riddim Jerk & BBQ Grill is now open in Round Rock.

Owned by Wayne and Dianne Anderson, the restaurant offers signature Jamaican dishes. The menu includes jerk chicken, barbecue ribs, brown stew snapper, curry chicken, curry goat, oxtail and other dishes. Main dishes are served with rice, peas and mixed vegetables.

The East Austin bar scene has expanded with Parley’s recent opening in the area.

The business was founded by Bar Hacienda, Bar Fino and Here Nor There alums Terance Robson and Jack “Slim” Hogan. Both from Ireland, Robson and Hogan stated the new business is a love letter to the pubs they grew up going to.

During the day, community members can enjoy a coffee bar with espresso and light bites. At night, the space turns into a bar featuring signature cocktails, beer, natural wines and nonalcoholic options.

Chihuly glass artwork headed for permanent display in Round Rock

A custom blown-glass sculpture by internationally recognized artist Dale Chihuly will be permanently installed at Round Rock’s Arts Center in the Griffith Building following City Council approval.

The gist: City Council approved a $360,000 contract with Chihuly Studio to design and assemble a site-specific artwork. The sculpture will be designed as a glass chandelier measuring approximately nine feet tall and six feet wide.
