Manvel residents voice concerns over 100-acre residential development proposal

Manvel City Council discussed a proposed 100-acre residential development at its June 15 meeting, with early concerns focused on traffic and proposed lot sizes.

What you need to know: The proposal outlines a residential subdivision on approximately 100 acres, located north of Hwy. 6 and east of Masters Road, with homes built on lots ranging from 50 to 70 feet wide, according to city documents.

The discussion: Resident Brandy Russell said she is not opposed to development on the property if it complies with the city's existing zoning requirements.

“Why should we bend our rules to line their pockets?” Russell said. “They’re going to build and move on to build somewhere else while we live with the repercussions.”
