Pflugerville council elects to bring EMS services under Travis County ESD No. 2

When Pflugerville residents call for emergency services after Oct. 1, EMS transportation will be provided by Travis County Emergency Services District No. 2, following action from local officials.

What happened: Pflugerville City Council on July 14 approved a measure to transition ambulance and emergency medical services from Allegiance Mobile Health to Travis County ESD 2, effective Oct. 1.

Through approved agreements between the city and ESD, the city of Pflugerville will partially compensate the ESD for providing ambulance transport and advanced life support emergency medical services within the city, according to a July 15 news release.

What they're saying: “Ensuring dependable emergency services is one of the most important responsibilities we have as a City,” Pflugerville Mayor Doug Weiss said in the release. “By partnering with Travis County ESD 2, we make a meaningful shift from private-sector EMS to our local public-sector provider. This collaboration strengthens our public‐safety system and reinforces our commitment to delivering responsive, reliable emergency care the community can count on.”

Outdoor New Braunfels music venue Whitewater Amphitheater files for bankruptcy

A New Braunfels music venue has filed for bankruptcy with the hope of supporting its long-term future.

What’s happening: Whitewater Amphitheater officials voluntarily filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, according to a July 7 news release. The filing aims to provide the venue the time and flexibility to complete financial restructuring.

Whitewater Amphitheater owner William Korioth said the decision allows them to continue delivering live music that guests have come to expect.

“Our focus remains on our employees, our guests, our artists, our partners and preserving everything that has made Whitewater special,” Korioth said in the release. “We look forward to continuing to welcome fans to Whitewater as we position the company for long-term success.”

Additional information will be provided as appropriate during the restructuring process, the release states.
