Mosquitoes testing positive for West Nile Virus in Frisco are steadily increasing, city data shows.

What to know: The city of Frisco recorded its 12th mosquito pool testing positive for West Nile in Frisco with two positive tests on Sept. 11. The majority of mosquito pools testing positive for West Nile in 2026 have come from South Frisco.

West Nile season runs through October in the United States, with peak transmission occurring in August and September.

Construction on Texas Regional Bank's Frisco location is nearly finished.

What to know: During a Sept. 8 meeting, the Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission approved a zoning change for a Texas Regional Bank building on a 1.5-acre plot of land near Preston Road and PGA Parkway.

The required infrastructure for the bank has been installed per the approved construction set.

The Wentwood Fields West, a new Class A multifamily community in Frisco’s Fields West development, is now leasing.

The gist: Located along Wentwood Avenue above Fields West’s retail and restaurant spaces, The Wentwood is now leasing its studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. The Wentwood is the first residential project in Fields West to begin leasing units.

Apartment floor plans range from 366 square feet to 1,462 square feet, according to the leasing website.

1. Light rail vehicle replacements

Project: Dallas Area Rapid Transit agency received a $70 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration, according to a news release from the agency. DART said it will use the $70 million grant to replace 53 light rail vehicles that were originally purchased over 30 years ago.

Update: DART has already begun the procurement process to purchase the new vehicles, but the agency has not announced a timeline for delivery.

2. CPKC Railroad Crossing improvements

Project: The city of Plano is replacing existing railroad crossings at Los Rios Boulevard and Plano Parkway. The project will also add sidewalk for some of the city’s gaps in the current sidewalk system.
