Sun Kissed Classics shifts gears toward Bastrop

Sun Kissed Classics, an automotive shop known for breathing new life into vintage rides, is revving its engines for a move toward Bastrop. Plans are underway to relocate the business from 720 Bell Springs Road in Dripping Springs by mid-2026.

About the business: Sun Kissed Classics offers a variety of services, including:

  • Classic car purchase support
  • Domestic transport
  • European vehicle transport
  • Securing titles for classic vehicles with lost or incomplete documentation
  • Virtual and in-person vehicle inspections

The backstory:
Owners Colton Danforth and Philip Bros met a few years ago when the pair were trying to negotiate a deal around a 1957 Buick Special.

Although Bros, who lived in Germany at the time, wanted to export the vehicle overseas, Danforth thought the deal “sounded sketchy” and ultimately sold the Special to another buyer.

Bros told Community Impact he eventually coaxed Danforth into getting “over his fear of web-based payment methods,” paving the way for a partnership that quickly took off.

Austin completes $28.5M Guerrero Park bridge and creek stabilization project

Local and federal officials marked the completion of the largest erosion control project in Austin's history at Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Metropolitan Park.

The details: The $28.5 million Guerrero Park project included extensive stabilization along Country Club Creek and the construction of a new pedestrian bridge over the channel.

Funding from both city and federal sources supported the stabilization work and new bridge construction after a previous crossing was wiped out during severe flooding in 2015. Austin parks Director Jesús Aguirre said the replacement structure now offers a safer and more accessible route for the area.

Country Club Creek now has a restored natural bottom and new stabilization features like rocks and native grass on its banks. The more than 160-foot bridge connecting the park's east and west sides was designed to withstand future floods, and spans one of three new grade-control structures for stormwater in the channel.
