Knead Me Bakery opens first store front in Shenandoah 

Knead Me Bakery co-owner Kristy Tamayo said Knead Me Bakery began its soft opening on Oct. 1 and is holding a grand opening and ribbon-cutting event with The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce on Oct. 31.

The details: Tamayo said during the soft opening stages held through Oct. 30 customers are encouraged to provide menu item recommendations and make suggestions to help the establishment develop the best experience they can.

In addition, Tamayo said Knead Me Bakery will have a limited menu during the first couple of weeks and offer:

  • Multiple varieties of sourdough
  • Scones
  • Cinnamon rolls
  • The big cookie
  • Jumbo muffins

In case you missed it: 
Knead Me Bakery first opened in 2017 with a booth at The Courtyard Collective Farmers Market off FM 1488 and Tamina Road. The bakery offers bread made with dough kneaded by hand, eggs from pasture-raised, free-range hens as well as using unbleached flours, old-fashioned oats and no preservatives.

College Park High School robotics teams donate bedding to local nonprofit, Angel Reach

At an annual off-season robotics meet, two College Park High School robotics teams collected and donated bedding and pillow sets for Angel Reach, a nonprofit organization based in Conroe, according to a Sept. 30 news release from the teams.

The details: Two of College Park High School’s award-winning robotics teams competed and collected bedding at the Remix, an off-season robotics competition held in The Woodlands on Sept. 13 and 14.

The specifics: The teams organized a community drive to collect bedding for Angel Reach, a local nonprofit focused on supporting foster kids who age out of the system. The Torque teams raised 21 sets of bedding and 21 pillow sets for Angel Reach.

H-E-B president to retire, chief operating officer to step into the role

A San Antonio-based grocery chain with a stronghold across Texas is now facing a change in leadership.

In case you missed it: H-E-B President Craig Boyan announced his intention to step down from his role, effective in January 2026.

He’ll subsequently retire at the end of next year, according to a Sept. 30 news release from the company.

As a result, current H-E-B Chief Operating Officer Roxanne Orsak will take his place.

Zooming in: Orsak started her career at H-E-B in 1988 as a store manager, rising through the ranks to become the COO in 2022, according to the release.

“I am honored to continue to shape the future of this great company with integrity, heart and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” Orsak said.

The context: The leadership change comes in tandem with H-E-B’s continued expansion in Texas.

New storefronts in San Antonio, Georgetown, Prosper and more have opened within the last two months, as previously reported by Community Impact.
