Mr. Shawarma now serving Mediterranean cuisine in Cypress area

Mr. Shawarma officials said the eatery is now offering Mediterranean cuisine in the Cypress area. Owned by Mohammed Saab, the Mediterranean restaurant held its soft opening on May 15 and has not established a grand opening date as of press time.

The details: According to the website Mr Shawarma was founded in San Diego and offers authentic Middle Eastern shawarma. The eatery offers fresh-made wraps, plates and vegan alternatives as well as 100% halal marinated chicken and beef dishes.

Primrose school of Barker Cypress celebrates 25 years serving Cypress

Primrose School of Barker Cypress Director Elizabeth Stafford said the early education school is celebrating 25 years serving the Cypress area throughout the summer.

Quote of note: “We have families that refer to [primrose] as their happy place, because it's their second home, it's their second family,” Stafford said. “We are educating the children, and that's of course one of our top priorities, but also creating that safe environment for the children and their families.”

The impact: Founded in August 2001, Stafford said Primrose School of Barker Cypress started with one building and 10 classes offered for children from infants to 5th grade. In 2008 the school expanded with an additional building and 5 additional classrooms. Along with second generations of children returning to Primrose with their children, Stafford said over the years the school has supported several local charities including Cypress Assistance Ministry.

Oh My Gyros coming soon to Elyson

Mediterranean and Greek-inspired restaurant Oh My Gyros is coming to Cypress in fall 2026, staff confirmed.

What's on the menu: According to their website, popular items include:

Beef and lamb gyro
Chicken platter
The BLC (beef, lamb and chicken combo)
Signature pink sauce
Mediterranean catering trays

Oh My Gyros currently has one operating location in Katy, per their website, but is expanding to four other locations. They offer online orders for pick up and catering options on their website.
