University Health purchases $50M medical towers adjacent to Babcock Specialty Hospital

On Jan. 20, University Health entered into a $50 million agreement to purchase two medical towers, known as Northwest Medical Tower I and Tower II.

The details: This purchase was made in light of the recent purchase of the Babcock Specialty Hospital, which was formerly the Christus Santa Rosa Medical Center Campus, on July 29, 2025, according to a news release. Adjacent to the hospital and connected to its second floor via a skybridge, the towers will offer the new hospital an ideal location for additional clinics and providers, the news release states.

The background: According to the news release, the seven-story, 123,055-square-foot Northwest Tower I was built in 1986, while the four-story, 77,778-square-foot Northwest Tower II was built in 1986. Totaling a combined 200,833 square feet, the towers received a $5.2 million renovation, including upgrades to the common areas, elevators and HVAC.

Currently, rent-paying tenants occupy roughly 179,000 square feet between both towers, with Christus Santa Rosa Healthcare leasing around 46,000 square feet.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar to open 3rd San Antonio location in mid-February

This burger bar chain is planning to continue its expansion in the San Antonio area with the opening of a new location soon.

In case you missed it: Hopdoddy Burger Bar announced it will open its third San Antonio-area location at 11267 Huebner Road in mid-February, according to a Jan. 28 news release.

It’s located inside The Strand shopping center, close to the popular Huebner Oaks shopping area on the city’s North Side.

“The official opening date for The Strand is coming soon, but the opening is currently tracking for mid-February,” the release states.

What’s special about it? Hopdoddy Burger Bar chefs specialize in crafting gourmet, specialty burgers. Popular menu items include The Cadillac Burger and The Wagyu Smash, according to the news release.

Quote of note: “Contiuning to grow in the San Antonio area is an exciting next step for Hopdoddy,” Jeff Chandler, the CEO of Hopdoddy Burger Bar said in the release.

This mattress seller specializing in sleep technology and body mapping has opened its first-ever showroom in the Alamo City.

In case you missed it: Snooze Mattress + Wellness opened its newest showroom on Dec. 27, just off of Hwy. 281 at 13111 San Pedro Ave., Ste. 101 in North San Antonio.

It’s the chain’s 36th overall location throughout the United States and fifth in Texas.

The nationwide seller has locations in all major Texas regions, including Houston, Dallas, El Paso and McAllen, according to their store locator tool.

More details: Snooze Mattress & Wellness has a selection of mattresses, bed frames, bedding accessories and more available to customers, according to their website.

Staff help customers with sleep testing and body mapping to find and select the best-fitting mattress.
