New Braunfels ISD officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 9 to unveil the new performing arts center and stadium at Long Creek High School, or LCHS. 

The details: The new stadium has a 9,000-seat capacity and includes a press box, an eight-lane track, concessions, visitor dressing rooms and a turf practice field. 2026 will mark the first time the LCHS Dragons compete in a varsity district, have a senior class and be eligible for the UIL football playoffs, according to the district's website.

The performing arts facility includes a new auditorium, choir room, dance studio and band hall. NBISD Superintendent Laurelyn Arterbury said the performing arts center and stadium will provide students with more opportunities to "lead, learn, perform, compete and belong."

CAVA's New Braunfels location is open and ready for business.

The overview: The Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant opened Sept. 7 at 323 Creekside Crossing, Ste. 117. CAVA serves customizable pita wraps, bowls, salads and more.

Skincare clinic Skin Deep NB will be relocating to a new space mid-September.

What we know: Skin Deep NB will be relocating from 457 Landa St., Ste. G to 1528 E. Common St. The new space will give practitioners the ability to offer more services, including breast augmentations, Brazilian butt lifts and liposuction, Skin Deep NB Founder Cory Preuss said.

Although they are growing, Preuss said they are still local.

"As we grow, we'll never lose sight of what got us here, staying humble, treating people right and making everyone feel valued," Preuss said in a statement to Community Impact.

This November, four candidates are running to lead the Texas Comptroller's Office and serve as the state's chief financial officer.

The overview: Libertarian V. Alonzo Echavarria-Garza, Democrat Sarah Eckhardt, Green Party candidate Shehla Faizi and Republican Don Huffines are running for comptroller. Huffines, whom Gov. Greg Abbott appointed to the office in July, is considered the incumbent in this race.

How it works: The comptroller oversees government spending and administers the state's $1 billion education savings account program, which launched ahead of the 2026-27 school year.

Looking ahead: Early voting runs from Oct. 19-30 in the midterm election, and Election Day is Nov. 3.
