Multiple transportation projects are underway across Cedar Park, with completion dates stretching into 2027. These projects include:

• RM 1431 road and intersection improvements: This project plans road improvements from New Hope Drive to Bagdad Road and at the RM 1431 and Whitestone Boulevard intersection. The road portion is expected to be completed in winter 2027 for $11.9 million, and the intersection in winter 2026 for $15.9 million.

• New Hope Drive expansion: This project expands the road from four to six lanes and introduces an innovative intersection at 183A Toll. The design phase costs $1.8 million, with a timeline running from September 2024 to spring 2027.

• Toro Grande Boulevard roadway improvements: This project improves and extends the boulevard, with construction progressing on roadway widening, utilities and drainage. The project broke ground in November and is scheduled from November 2025 to fall 2027 at a cost of $38.1 million.

Musical duo Brooks & Dunn and singer-songwriter Ella Langley will headline Georgetown's Two Step Inn country music festival April 17-18, 2027.

Presale tickets will be available to the public this Friday, Sept. 25, at noon.

The lineup: This year's festival will have 30 musical acts across three stages, according to the event website.

Six local events are scheduled to take place from Sept. 25-29:

• Comal County Fair Parade: Featuring floats from local businesses and sponsors, the parade starts at 9 a.m. Sept. 25 at 500 Main Plaza in New Braunfels. Admission is free.
• Mainly Art: This free outdoor event spotlights 15 artists from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 26 at 221 E. Main St. in Round Rock.
• Cedar Parktoberfest: Celebrating Bavarian culture, this free festival begins at 4 p.m. Sept. 26 at 301 S. Bell Blvd. in Cedar Park.
• Rhinestone Cowboy Gala: Benefiting programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, this gala starts at 5 p.m. Sept. 26 at 1408 Chestnut St. in Bastrop.
• Art City Austin’s Fiesta: Running Sept. 26-27 at 600 River St. in Austin, this festival features an artist market, music and food.
• Harry Potter Trivia: This free trivia night starts at 7 p.m. Sept. 29 at Pinballz Kingdom in Buda.

To cast votes for a U.S. senator, governor, state attorney general and dozens of other races during the Nov. 3 midterm election, Texans must ensure they are registered to vote or have submitted an application by Oct. 5.

How it works: To be eligible to register to vote, an individual must:

• Be a U.S. citizen

• Reside in the county they apply to vote in

• Be at least 18 years old by Election Day

• Not have been declared mentally incapacitated without the right to vote by a court

Getting registered: Eligible Texans must submit a paper voter registration application by Oct. 5. The online form must be printed, signed and mailed to the applicant's local elections office.

One more thing: Voters who are already registered have through Oct. 5 to update their name or address, if needed.

Some voters may appear on the state "suspense" list if local officials cannot confirm their address, although they will still be able to vote in the election.

Republican candidate Chris Gober and Democratic candidate Caitlin Rourk will face off in the Nov. 3 election for U.S. House District 10.

Digging Deeper: Texas' 10th Congressional District covers the northwestern portion of the greater Houston area, northern Austin, north Austin suburbs including Pflugerville and west Austin suburbs such as Lakeway and Bee Cave.

The district has been represented by Michael McCaul since 2005, but McCaul is not seeking reelection after his current term.

Community Impact reached out to the candidates running in the general election for the U.S. House District 10 race. Candidates were asked to keep responses under 50 words, answer the questions provided and avoid attacking opponents.
