Los Jarritos Mexican Grill to host 1st anniversary celebration in Humble

Los Jarritos co-owner Juan Nambo said the Mexican eatery is celebrating its first anniversary on April 11.

The details: Taking place from 6-9 p.m., the anniversary celebration will feature a mariachi, mechanical bull and face painting. Owned by Nambo, Magdiel Marquez and Armando Rodriguez, Los Jarritos Mexican Grill offers dine-in services, outdoor seating and take out.

On the menu: Menu items offered range from tacos, tortas and fajitas to menudo.

Humble ISD seeking feedback on district through community listening session

Humble ISD officials are hosting a community listening session to give residents a chance to share comments, suggestions and concerns with district leadership.

The details: The listening session will be held March 26 from 5:30-7 p.m at Woodcreek Middle School—14600 Woodson Park Drive, Houston—according to a March 4 news release.

Get involved: District officials said community members can also submit comments online through the district’s webpage. They noted officials are seeking feedback on the following questions:

  • What is working well in HISD?
  • What should HISD continue or strengthen?
  • What are your concerns about HISD?
  • In what ways can HISD better support students?

The form to submit comments online will remain open through April 2, per the release.

What’s next: The district will continue to host listening sessions in the future, with the next session planned for September.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo adds dress code to code of conduct

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials have announced a new dress code for entry, beginning March 17.

Sorting out details: The Rodeo has provided an update on its code of conduct for guests, according to its website.

The following is prohibited:

  • Clothing with "objectionable" material, such as obscene language or graphics
  • Excessively torn clothing or visible undergarments exposing excessive portions of the skin
  • Clothing or other attire of affiliation with a criminal street gang
  • Clothing or apparel that intentionally obscures the face, unless worn for cultural or religious reasons or a medical condition

The context: Since 1932, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has featured traditional rodeo competition and country music performers. Each year, the Rodeo hosts several events, including auctions, cookoffs and concerts, all with the goal of promoting Western heritage, officials said.
