Lone Star Circle of Care expands partnership with GISD to offer behavioral health services

Lone Star Circle of Care and Georgetown ISD have partnered to bring behavioral health services to the Georgetown ISD Health and Wellness Center, according to an April 8 news release.

Why it matters: The clinic brought on licensed clinical social worker Kathryn “Katy” Seela. Seela will provide therapy services for patients age 5 and older. The addition of on-site behavioral health therapy allows the center to support patients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress and behavioral or emotional challenges, per the release.

More details: The clinic accepts most insurance plans, including Medicaid, Medicare and The Children's Health Insurance Program. For those without insurance, a sliding fee scale is available based on household size and income, the release states.

The clinic is available to all GISD students, staff and their immediate families.

WilCo officials consider next steps for justice facilities in county capital plan

Williamson County commissioners discussed allocating money in the county’s capital improvement plan to upcoming projects, such as the Juvenile Justice Center, at a March 31 meeting.

Digging deeper: There is almost $17.9 million in the fiscal year 2025-26 CIP budget that has not yet been allocated, County Auditor Julie Kiley said at the meeting.

Commissioners suggested prioritizing current projects with the cash left over, including the remaining balance of the Juvenile Justice Center project, totaling $17.4 million. They voted to allocate $500,000 to an internal computer software project.

Existing projects in the CIP will require the majority of funding in FYs 2026-27 through 2031-32, according to county documents.

The largest priorities within the existing project list include:

  • $20.65 million for a new Precinct 4 Annex requested in FY 2026-27
  • $14.9 million for the Lake Creek Annex improvements requested in FY 2026-27
  • $17 million for technology requested over the next five years

Hutto residents air concerns over proposed data center

The Hutto Planning and Zoning Commission recently heard a request from Zydeco Development to rezone a 40-acre piece of land to allow for a data center on the southeast corner of Ed Schmidt Boulevard and Limmer Loop.

The gist: Zydeco is asking the city to both amend Hutto’s future land use map, as well as rezone roughly 40 acres zoned for a planned unit development with plans for a 173-unit apartment complex and commercial space.

Wes Gilmer, principal with Zydeco, described the project as a “midscale data center” during the April 7 meeting. However, the proposal drew a crowd of area residents to Hutto City Hall to express their concerns over the project.

The proposal comes as data centers continue to surge into Central Texas. Hutto’s neighbor, Round Rock, recently saw plans for a new Skybox data center move forward after a rezoning request was approved. The industry has also been under the microscope of Texas officials, as lawmakers look to manage the growth of data centers across the state.

Travis County to withhold 9% of tax rebate to Tesla for 'incomplete documentation'

Electric car manufacturer Tesla will receive less of a tax rebate than initially expected from Travis County due to “partial noncompliance” with the performance-based agreement.

Since 2020, the county has promised Tesla millions in tax incentives to build Giga Texas—a 10-million-square-foot electric car manufacturing plant near Del Valle. At an April 7 meeting, the Travis County Commissioners Court voted to withhold 9% of funds allocated for 2020-22 after receiving “incomplete documentation” from Colorado River Project, a subsidiary company of Tesla, County Judge Andy Brown said.

"We have to continue to demand accountability in future compliance conversations," Commissioner Ann Howard said.

The overview: Under the agreement, Tesla would receive a 70% rebate on its maintenance and operations property taxes for the first $1.09 billion invested through Giga Texas. To receive these rebates, the company was required to create at least 5,001 new full-time jobs—50% of which must be filled by Travis County residents—among other requirements.

Tesla was projected to receive a $14.65 million rebate over 10 years, according to 2020 county estimates.
