Leander ISD and Liberty Hill ISD announce delayed start Jan. 28

Both Leander ISD and Liberty Hill ISD have announced a delayed start for classes Jan. 28, due to lingering freezing temperatures and potential for icy conditions early in the morning.

What you need to know: Leander ISD schools will have a delayed start on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Start times will be:

  • Elementary at 9:30 a.m.
  • High School at 10:15 a.m.
  • Middle School at 11:05 a.m.

Morning PreK and morning PSLP are canceled. Buses will run on a 2-hour delay as well. Any bus delays will be communicated directly to impacted routes through SMART Tag, according to an update from the district.

“Student and staff safety is our top priority. We also trust families and staff to make the best decisions for their circumstances if travel in your area remains unsafe,” the update states. “Student tardies will be excused with a parent note.”

Liberty Hill ISD will also operate on a 2-hour delay, according to an update on the district's social.

Zooming out: In the Leander-Liberty Hill area, the low temperature on Wednesday is forecast at 29 degrees, and the high at 48 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
