See how the Katy-Fulshear real estate market fared in February

The total number of homes sold in six Katy-Fulshear area ZIP codes decreased in February, year over year.

The big picture: There were 486 homes sold in six local ZIP codes in February versus 578 homes for the same month in 2025.

Three of the six local ZIP codes saw the number of homes sold grow year over year, with ZIP code 77094 seeing the largest increase at 100%. Home sales in ZIP code 77493 were the highest, with 213 homes sold.

Zooming in: The median home sales price decreased in four of six ZIP codes year over year. ZIP code 77094 saw the largest year-over-year decrease at 13.06% and saw the largest median home sale price at $582,500.

What else: The average number of days homes spent on the market increased in five of six ZIP codes.

Homes sold quickest in ZIP code 77094, with an average of 65 days on the market. Homes spent the longest on the market in ZIP code 77423 for an average of 105 days.

16 Handles to serve frozen yogurt in Katy

Frozen yogurt chain 16 Handles is set to open a new location in Katy, franchise owner Min Lee confirmed.

For dessert: The shop offers 16 rotating flavors including classics like vanilla and chocolate as well as others such as salted butter or black matcha, Lee said. Patrons can also choose from 50 toppings to pair with their flavor of choice.

One more thing: Lee said her goal is for 16 Handles to become a “cool place to hang out” for people who may be looking for alternatives to drinking or going out after having dinner.

Toro District estimated to have $34B economic impact in Cypress region

An 83-acre sports and entertainment hub called the Toro District is coming to the Bridgeland community by 2029 as part of a public-private partnership between the Houston Texans, Howard Hughes Communities and Harris County.

The big picture: 
The Texans will construct a 175,000-square-foot headquarters with training facilities, administrative space and a fieldhouse, officials announced Feb. 25.

The project is estimated to have a long-term economic impact of about $34 billion, officials said, and will include:

  • 1 million square feet of office space
  • 300,000 square feet of retail and restaurants
  • 250,000 square feet health care space
  • 175,000-square-foot fieldhouse and performance center
  • 5,000 parking spaces
  • 1,300 units of multifamily housing
  • 4 new parks with walk and bike trails
  • 3 outdoor NFL training fields
  • 2 hotels totaling 300 rooms

Quote of note:
 “We’ve been looking for the center of Cypress for the last 20 years,” Harris County Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey said. “Well, we’re about to find it.”

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo adds dress code to code of conduct

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials have announced a new dress code for entry, beginning March 17.

Sorting out details: The Rodeo has provided an update on its code of conduct for guests, according to its website.

The following is prohibited:

  • Clothing with "objectionable" material, such as obscene language or graphics
  • Excessively torn clothing or visible undergarments exposing excessive portions of the skin
  • Clothing or other attire of affiliation with a criminal street gang
  • Clothing or apparel that intentionally obscures the face, unless worn for cultural or religious reasons or a medical condition

The context: Since 1932, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has featured traditional rodeo competition and country music performers. Each year, the Rodeo hosts several events, including auctions, cookoffs and concerts, all with the goal of promoting Western heritage, officials said.

Fleet Week Houston ship lineup announced

The city of Houston and the U.S. Navy announced the lineup of ships for the first-ever Fleet Week Houston.

The event: Fleet Week Houston will bring U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard vessels to the Port of Houston on April 15-22. During that week, the public will have the chance to meet and engage with service members, learn about the ships' roles in national defense and take ship tours.

Participating ships include:

  • USS Kearsarge (LHD-3): an assault ship designed for multi-purpose operations, including troop transport and aircraft support
  • USS Minneapolis-St. Paul (LCS-21): a littoral combat ship optimized for operations in near-shore environments with high speed and agility
  • USS Cooperstown (LCS-23): a littoral combat ship sharing the same advanced capabilities for coastal missions
  • USCGC Edgar Culbertson (WPC-1137): a fast response cutter equipped for a range of missions, including search and rescue, law enforcement and port security

Houston Mayor John Whitmire said the city is excited to welcome Fleet Week.
