Richardson ISD announced that all schools and offices will remain closed Jan. 28 due to hazardous travel conditions and below-freezing temperatures.

What you need to know: RISD schools have been closed since Jan. 26. The closure includes all district operations, including extracurricular activities, athletic games and practices and other events. According to a news release, RISD decided to extend the school closure due to freezing fog forecasted for Wednesday morning, icy conditions on neighborhood streets and travel conditions around the metroplex.

What else: According to the National Weather Service, most roads are expected to improve Tuesday afternoon, but some ice could linger until Jan. 29.
