The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported in 2025 that 1 in 31 children were identified with autism spectrum disorder from a 2022 study of the autism and developmental disabilities monitoring network. The network includes 16 sites across the United States and looks at the prevalence of autism among children between the ages of 4 and 8, according to the website.

In 2014, the CDC reported that 1 in 68 children had autism or autism spectrum disorder. A study from the Texas Center for Disability Studies at The University of Texas in Austin reported that household language and health insurance may play a role in the diagnostic journey.

Cheba Hut now open, offers toasted subs and full bar in Alliance area

Cheba Hut opened its new location in the Alliance area in the middle of June.

The details: The eatery offers toasted subs, desserts, fountain drinks, sides like chips and catering options, according to its website. The Alliance location will also have a full-service bar, a company news release states.

Some of Cheba Hut's specialties include:

  • The Jamaican Red sub with Buffalo chicken
  • The Thai Stick sub with teriyaki chicken 
  • The Midwest Best club sub
  • The Pakalolo sub with ham, Swiss and pineapple
  • The Pacific Blue tuna melt

This is the first Cheba Hut to open in the northeast Fort Worth, Keller and Roanoke areas.

PS offers private luxury facility with transportation to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

PS, formerly The Private Suites, has opened its location at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

The Los Angeles-based company used Dallas-based designer Jean Liu for its third terminal in the United States, joining Los Angeles International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

PS offers a terminal option with private TSA and customs clearance, luxury spaces and white-glove service before and after your flight, according to its website.

The details: The 12,200-square-foot facility is located in Corporate Aviation, DFW Airport terminals. PS is membership-based with annual and per-visit costs, which allows access to a private lounge, food, drinks and chauffeur services.

A closer look: PS DFW’s location features The Salon, a social lounge with a 40-foot bar. Dallas-based artist Amy Berlin created the mural inside The Salon.

On the Border shutters all company-owned locations

Tex-Mex restaurant On the Border Mexican Grill and Cantina permanently closed all company-owned restaurants in mid-June, according to an emailed statement from OTB Hospitality.

The overview: The company made the decision through an “evaluation of the business,” according to the statement.

“On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina has made the difficult decision to move forward with a significant transition in its restaurant operations, which [included] the closing of company-owned locations by end of day Friday, June 12, 2026,” the statement read. “This decision follows a thorough evaluation of the business and was not made lightly.”

The statement added that the franchised locations will remain open.

Some background: A news release from Houston-based Pappas Restaurants, the parent company of Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen and Pappasito’s Cantina, stated that the organization purchased On the Border May 1.

The restaurant offered nachos, quesadillas, fajitas and burritos, according to its menu.
