Domain Farmers Market to cease operations in late June

Domain Farmers Market will officially close down its weekly operations on June 28, according to market manager Emylee Boone.

The context: The farmers market opened at The Domain in November 2023, bringing a range of 45 vendors to the shopping plaza on Sundays from noon-4 p.m. Market offerings include farm fresh produce, meat, eggs, cut flowers, artisan goods and homemade dog treats.

Dive deeper: The market will be closing due to Simon Property Group’s future leasing plans and concerns from incoming tenants, Boone explained.
Market leaders are considering transitioning the Sunday market to a new location in Northwest Austin, though no plans are confirmed at this time, Boone said.

One more thing: As the market is slated to close this summer, patrons can find many of the same vendors on Saturdays at Lakeline Farmers Market located at the Lakeline Farmers Market in Cedar Park.

Round Rock ISD passes balanced budget, to call tax rate election to fund potential staff raises

Round Rock officials passed a balanced budget for the 2026-27 financial year June 16, with an understanding that the board will call a tax rate election for November.

What you need to know: The district's budget for the upcoming school year will result in a small surplus, district documents show. As reported in May, the version of the budget without the passage of a tax rate election does not include pay raises for employees not covered by House Bill 2.

The details: Chief Financial Officer Dennis Covington presented a budget projection for the 2026-27 financial year in a June 16 board meeting, showing a planned $486.1 million in expenses against $486.2 million in revenue, resulting in a surplus of $75,000. This surplus is insufficient to cover raises, district staff said in May, as the district would need around $10 million in additional revenue.
