Major McCarty Lane developments gain opening timeline clarity

The intersection of I-35 and E. McCarty Lane on San Marcos’ south side is undergoing major changes, defined by three business developments: H-E-B, The Home Depot and Rooms To Go.

Company representatives have confirmed opening timelines for the two projects still under development.

What happened: The Home Depot is developing its first location in San Marcos next to the city’s newest H-E-B grocery. The 107,797-square-foot store will cost approximately $13 million to develop and feature a 28,120-square-foot garden center.

The location is under construction and currently slated to open in 2027, said a spokesperson for The Home Depot.

Rooms To Go is developing a 52,460-square-foot store on the southeast corner of the McCarty Commons development. The project is under construction and expected to open during the fourth quarter of 2027, said Vice President Peter Weitzner.

Also of note: The third H-E-B grocery location in San Marcos officially opened its doors on Oct. 7. The 114,000-square-foot store was the first of the three to open.
