Midnight Cravingz coming soon to Northwest Freeway

The late-night dessert spot offering specialty ice cream plans to open its Cypress location in October, officials confirmed.

Midnight Cravingz locations are open Tuesday through Thursday from 6 p.m.-1 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m.-2 a.m. and Sunday from 6 p.m.-midnight, according to its website.

Verizon retail store coming soon to Bridgeland Creek Parkway

Howard Hughes Communities representatives confirmed a Verizon retail store is coming soon to Village Green at Bridgeland Central. The company offers mobile, home and business internet services, according to the Verizon website.

According to a Sept. 15 Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, Dumont Creamery and Cafe is coming soon to Cypress. The new location will be at 21920 West Road, though the opening date is currently to be determined.

According to the franchise's online menu, the cafe and ice cream shop offers:

• Ice cream, with over 50 flavors ranging from birthday cake to filter coffee

• Boba

• Coffee

The details: The nonprofit Bayou Land Conservancy, which focuses on preserving streams that lead into Lake Houston, has named Dr. Anna Weiss as its new executive director. Weiss succeeds Jill Boullion, who retired after ten years of service. In her new role, Weiss will oversee daily operations and implement initiatives directed by the board. She has a decade of experience in the environmental sector, most recently serving as the Director of Green Galveston Initiatives at Vision Galveston. Weiss earned her Ph.D. in Geosciences from The University of Texas at Austin and previously managed community-led restoration and research projects for the Billion Oyster Project in New York.

Candidates Abbie Kamin and Jacqueline Lucci Smith are set to face off in November’s election for a chance to lead Harris County’s chief civil law office.

What you need to know: The Harris County Attorney’s Office works on the county’s behalf in civil litigation, also providing legal counsel to county elected officials, employees and departments, according to its website.

Early voting begins Oct. 19 and runs through Oct. 30, according to the Texas Secretary of State's website. Election day is Nov. 3 and polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Registered voters can cast their ballot at any polling location during early voting and election day.
