Boba tea shop rebrands in Universal City

A tea and coffee shop in Northeast San Antonio has rebranded.

Kung Fu Tea, located at 3126 Pat Booker Road, Ste. 108 in Universal City, is in the process of rebranding to Take a Break, staff told Community Impact.

What's happening: The shop has replaced its signage and removed previous Kung Fu Tea branding from the storefront. The shop has also been removed from Kung Fu Tea's store locator. Kung Fu Tea is a chain specializing in bubble tea and has multiple locations across the nation, from California to New York.

The specifics: Take a Break features a similar menu to its predecessor. The shop offers milk teas, specialty coffees and baked goods.

The business will also have a food menu featuring ramen, chicken, tempura dishes and more.

Locally owned coffee shop closes near Schertz, Selma

A locally owned coffee shop closed its doors in Northeast San Antonio.

What you need to know: Triple Shot Coffee, located north of Schertz at 18817 FM 2252, closed its doors on Sept. 7, Owner Debbie De La Cruz told Community Impact.

“There just wasn’t enough store traffic,” De La Cruz said. “The construction [on FM 2252] was taking too long, too."

De La Cruz is also the owner of The Cake Bar in New Braunfels and The Sweet Spot in San Marcos. She also said she wanted to shift her focus to her other two locations.

More details: Triple Shot Coffee offered a variety of signature iced and hot coffees. Aside from coffee, the shop also offered matcha, cream frappes, chai tea and more.

The restaurant is locally owned by Zack Aly. Although this is Aly's first time owning a restaurant, he said he has worked for other burger joints in the past, which is what inspired him to open his own.
