New indoor slide park to open in Webster

Slick City Action Park is planning to open a new franchise in Webster, with parks in Colleyville and The Woodlands coming soon. 

What they offer: With franchises across the country, the action park is known for its variety of indoor slides that can launch guests into the air before landing on bean bags. 

Looking ahead: According to Slick City’s social media, the new park in Webster is expected to open in April. Ticket prices vary by location but are sold in time increments of 90 and 120 minutes.

New 106-acre sportsplex named after former mayor coming to League City

A future sportsplex, named after League City’s former mayor Pat Hallisey, is slated to start construction in late May, said Chien Wei, League City’s parks & cultural services director.

What you need to know: The 106-acre sportsplex, which will be located near the intersection of Calder Drive and Ervin Street, was previously named Bay Colony Park, according to a news release from League City.

The details: The park’s design includes:

  • 12 pickleball courts
  • Five softball fields
  • Four baseball fields
  • Batting practice cages
  • Two tennis courts
  • 12 pickleball courts
  • Two soccer fields

What’s special about it: League City City Council approved the new sportsplex to be named “Pat Hallisey Park” at its Feb. 25 meeting.

Hallisey has been a League City resident since the early 1970s and served as League City’s mayor from 2016-22, as previously reported by Community Impact.

"Pat … loved his community," council member Tommy Cones said. "He worked very hard in his younger days to have a vision for League City and make League City what it is today."

PREVIEW: Harris County to discuss 2026 election updates, Ben Taub Hospital expansion

Harris County commissioners will meet Jan. 8 with more than 300 agenda items spanning from county operations and security regarding the upcoming election cycle to possible postponements with the Ben Taub Hospital expansion in the Texas Medical Center.

What you need to know: Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth has several items related to overseeing the upcoming March, May and November elections. One item by the county clerk includes establishing an interlocal agreement with the city of Houston Police Department as part of an Election Security Task Force. 

At the polls: Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey seeks a discussion on the county's compliance with Senate Bill 1933, which allows the secretary of state’s office to oversee Harris County elections if an election complaint is filed.

Growing challenges: One of Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis's agenda items calls for the postponement of the Harris Health community engagement report regarding the Ben Taub Hospital expansion, adding another delay with the Texas Medical Center project. Commissioners voted unanimously last October to postpone the Dec. 11 public hearing.

Event details: As part of the new program, Community Impact is hosting InCIder Hours across the state, events designed to celebrate and engage the company’s top supporters.

Houston’s first InCIder Hour will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. Jan. 21 at Community Impact’s Houston headquarters, 16300 Northwest Freeway, Jersey Village.
