McKinney Fire Department celebrates opening of $53M headquarters campus

City officials celebrated the grand opening of the McKinney Fire Department’s new headquarters campus May 8.

In a nutshell: The $53 million campus includes a new fire administration building, logistics center and Fire Station No. 2. The 40,000-square-foot administration building houses the fire department’s assistant chiefs, battalion chiefs, its Emergency Medical Service division and the Fire Marshal’s Office.

“This campus represents how far we’ve come as a fire department and as a city,” Fire Chief Paul Dow said. “But more importantly, it represents where we’re going.”

The 20,000-square-foot logistics building will store department equipment and the new Fire Station No. 2 is replacing a nearly 30-year-old building on West University Drive. Funding for the campus comes from a $75 million bond proposition passed by voters in 2019.
