Fort Worth City Council approves rezoning for 204 townhomes near Northwest ISD campus

More than 200 townhomes will be part of a new planned development near Northwest ISD.

The gist: During the Sept. 30 Fort Worth City Council meeting, 19.55 acres were rezoned to high-density multifamily for a planned development with 204 townhomes—a mix of one- and two-bedroom—to be constructed near the Northwest ISD campus.

Zooming in: The change of zoning also included a new site plan, which was also approved. The original site plan was approved April 12, 2022, according to city documents. The development will offer a swimming pool, clubhouse, pickleball courts, pocket parks and dog park, according to city documents.

Enea's Pizzeria to offer hand-tossed pizzas in Roanoke

Enea’s Pizzeria will serve New York-style pizza in Roanoke next month, owner Edmond Gjekaj said. 

The details: The pizza is made using fresh ingredients, hand-tossed dough and sauce made from scratch, Gjekaj said. The pizzeria will serve big slices that are meant to be eaten on-the-go or folded in half just like in Manhattan, he said.  In addition to pizza, the restaurant will serve garlic knots, calzones, chicken rolls, submarine sandwiches and cannoli, according to its website. 

Quote of note: “Enea’s Pizzeria is more than just a place to grab a slice, it’s the product of over 40 years of family tradition,” Gjekaj said.

H-E-B president to retire, chief operating officer to step into the role

A San Antonio-based grocery chain with a stronghold across Texas is now facing a change in leadership.

In case you missed it: H-E-B President Craig Boyan announced his intention to step down from his role, effective in January 2026.

He’ll subsequently retire at the end of next year, according to a Sept. 30 news release from the company.

As a result, current H-E-B Chief Operating Officer Roxanne Orsak will take his place.

Zooming in: Orsak started her career at H-E-B in 1988 as a store manager, rising through the ranks to become the COO in 2022, according to the release.

“I am honored to continue to shape the future of this great company with integrity, heart and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” Orsak said.

The context: The leadership change comes in tandem with H-E-B’s continued expansion in Texas.

New storefronts in San Antonio, Georgetown, Prosper and more have opened within the last two months, as previously reported by Community Impact.
