Live music and other events are planned in The Woodlands area from July 16-19, with the latest free concert happening at Hughes Landing for Rock the Row on Thursday along with performances at local music venues through the weekend. The Woodlands Children's Museum offers a sensory-friendly morning on July 18. Here's a look at those and other events happening in The Woodlands area this weekend.

Rock the Row

The outdoor concert series Rock the Row is returning for its summer lineup. The series will include live music such as Latin, soul, Motown, and funk and pop hits. The July 16 concert features soul music by Brenda Guy The One Woman Show.

Charolais by Chef Austin Simmons opens in The Woodlands featuring customized steak boards

Charolais by Chef Austin Simmons is now open in The Woodlands at Hughes Landing, according to a July 14 news release from Howard Hughes Communities.

The backstory: Simmons was formerly executive chef of TRIS in The Woodlands, which closed in January 2025. Community Impact previously reported Simmons planned for the new restaurant to specialize in high-quality beef produced through a program focusing on genetics and sustainable animal husbandry. 

What to expect: Guests will be able to customize steak boards by selecting specific cuts and preferred preparation methods.

New pollinator garden open this summer at Wendtwoods Park in The Woodlands

A new pollinator garden has been created at Wendtwoods Park in The Woodlands through a $8,000 grant received by the township's Environmental Services department in partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful, Keep America Beautiful and Critter Control, according to a July 8 news release from the township.

What happened: Volunteers from Critter Control visited Wendtwoods Park for a morning dedicated to litter cleanup and the creation of the new garden. Volunteers collected 6 pounds of litter and 30 gallons of debris as part of the cleanup.

What's next: The garden will also get educational signage, providing information about the importance of native pollinator plants and the role that they and wildlife play in the ecosystem.

County Coverage
Montgomery County road bond spending tops $102M

Montgomery County has spent more than $102 million from its voter-approved 2025 road bond program, with another round of bond funding likely coming near the end of the year.

During a July 9 Commissioners Court meeting, Budget Officer Amanda Carter said the county has received $188 million in bond proceeds and $3.7 million in interest income, bringing total revenue for the program to $191.7 million.

Of that amount, commissioners have allocated $145.3 million toward road projects, leaving $46.4 million available for future allocations. The county also had $89.3 million in cash remaining in its road bond account.

By the numbers: The July financial report shows the following allocations and spending by precinct:

  • Precinct 1: $28.3 million allocated; $19.4 million spent
  • Precinct 2: $56.6 million allocated; $44.1 million spent
  • Precinct 3: $29.2 million allocated; $21.5 million spent
  • Precinct 4: $31.2 million allocated; $17.3 million spent

Across all four precincts, an additional $40.8 million has been encumbered—or committed through contracts and other obligations—while $2 million remains within existing precinct allocations.

June HAR report shows market growth, increase in pending sales

The June Housing Market Update from the Houston Association of Realtors reports a rise in home sales and pending activity with steady overall pricing.

By the numbers: The number of single-family homes sold increased by 3.5%, with 8,820 homes sold in June compared to last June with 8,525 sold. The average home price rose 1.2% to $455,159, while the median home price slightly decreased by just 0.3%.

Total property sales across the Houston area rose by 2.6% with 10,181 properties sold, and the number of active property listings increased 2.2%, equaling 59,970.

Also of note: The luxury market remained strong with home sales over the price of $1 million rising 17.1% year over year.

However, the townhome and condominium market showed a 9.3% fall year over year with 439 in June compared to 484 last June, data shows.

In their own words: HAR Chair Theresa Hill said the Greater Houston area is seeing a “little more breathing room” on both sides of the transaction.
