A proposed $10 million 911 facility is the largest project included in Brazos County’s proposed $12.9 million capital improvement plan for fiscal year 2026-27. Commissioners reviewed the proposed projects during an Aug. 4 workshop

The big picture: With a total request of nearly $13 million for the projects, the county is looking to expand and maintain new and existing buildings.

According to agenda material, the projects include:

• 2504 Kent St.: $10 million remodel for future 911 office space
• 1003 N. Earl Rudder Freeway: $500,000 property renovation for a future centralized elections office
• 108 San Jacinto Lane: $150,000 property renovation for future expansion of the county jail

Aggie-owned and operated Citymax Pawn has expanded with another College Station store.

What's new: The new location, across the street from Texas A&M University, is its third location in Aggieland.

Citymax chose the new location to be close to other shops and the university.

What Citymax offers: Citymax advertises purchasing gold, silver, bullion, jewelry and watches, but also buys items such as power tools and electronics.

The pawn shop also offers layaway, loans and extensions.

The history: Owner Eugene Sembera said he opened the first location in Bryan in 2023 with two of his friends.

“We all worked together and wanted to branch into owning our own store,” he said.

Before you go: The Aggie-owned and operated business is open 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and closes at 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Travelers flying through Houston's William P. Hobby Airport now have a new off-airport parking option with the opening of Hobby Airport Parking on July 13, according to a news release from Paquin Public Relations.

What you need to know: Located 2.5 miles from the airport, the new facility offers uncovered and covered parking, along with complimentary shuttle service, according to the release.
