Sunset Amphitheater construction work surpasses 70% completion in McKinney

Construction crews are finishing the Sunset Amphitheater's foundational steelwork while officials from Venu, the developer of the facility, look forward to completion in early 2027.

The full story: Chloe Polhamus, Venu’s vice president of Strategic Initiatives and Philanthropy, said the steelwork acts as the amphitheater’s “structural backbone.” Crews are also installing the final pieces of the amphitheater’s canopy roof, she said.

Construction is between 70% and 75% complete and construction crews will soon be working on the lower seating bowl and the stage, Polhamus said.

Looking ahead: Sunset Amphitheater, located near the northeast corner of US 75 and SH 121, could see up to 100 music shows a year once it opens. Venu officials are targeting project completion in the first quarter of 2027 though an opening date has not been announced yet, Polhamus said.

4 new American Airlines gates open in Terminal A at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

American Airlines opened four of its 10 new gates in the Terminal A pier at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Oct. 21.

The new gates are A10, A11, A13 and A15. The remaining six gates will open over the next few weeks as part of the pier-style expansion, according to a news release from the Fort Worth-based airline.

The 140,000-square-foot addition follows a similar pier-style expansion at Terminal C, which opened in June and added nine gates.

Zooming in: According to American Airlines, Terminal A will become the airline’s busiest hub, with more than 200 departures on peak days.

The pier features updated seating with power outlets at every seat, electronic boarding gates, and expanded dining and shopping options, according to a news release. Work on the project started in 2024 and used modular construction, with sections built on the airport campus and then transported to the pier.
