Pearland seeking artists for public-art projects, PearScape

Visit Pearland, the city’s tourism board, is seeking local artists for public art commissions and collaborations, including the PearScape Trail, a collection of painted fiberglass pear sculptures throughout the city.

The details: Artists are encouraged to apply for inclusion in the newly created Visit Pearland Artist Roster, a pre-qualified directory of artists considered for public art projects, according to a Dec. 11 news release.

The application is open to professional and emerging artists throughout the greater Houston area and there is no fee to apply, according to the release.

What else: Examples of projects and programs supported by Visit Pearland include the Pearland Mural Tour, Pearland Grand Arts & Eats and the prominent PearScape Trail.

Segura Western Wear opens second location in Pearland Town Center

Segura Western Wear opened a second location in the Pearland Town Center on Nov. 22, Giovanni Segura, whose family owns the business, said. 

The details: The business, which began in the family's garage in 2023, opened its first brick-and-mortar location at 3528 1/2 E. Broadway St., Pearland, Segura said.

The cost: All of the boots at Segura Western Wear are handmade in Mexico and include brands like Cuadra, Corral and Rock'Em and range from $200 to $1,000, Segura said.
