Buda residents seeking a new way to stay active and build community can now book classes at Atlas Jiu-Jitsu.
The big picture: Founded by Edward “Scissorhands” Anthony in 2011, Atlas is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy with five locations across the country. Since 2014, Buda local and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Jim “Yeti” Niemie has trained with Anthony. Now, Yeti is the co-leader and owner behind the newest location.
What they offer: Atlas offers adult and children's classes for kids four and older, focused on confidence, discipline, fitness and community, according to a news release.
What they’re saying: “The people who train at Atlas Jiu Jitsu are not only a part of a team, but also a family,” Niemie said in the news release. “I am extremely proud and excited to bring Atlas Jiu Jitsu to Buda and to the community I’m proud to call home.”
