McKinney to enter negotiations with Parkhill for proposed sports complex

City officials are entering into an exclusive negotiating period with Parkhill to develop about 300 acres in north McKinney for a sports and entertainment complex.

What happened: McKinney City Council members approved a resolution April 7 authorizing the city manager to negotiate an agreement with Parkhill to lead, develop and program a “landmark sports and entertainment complex.” The negotiating period will run up to 180 days, according to a city document.

The context: Plans have been in the works for development of the land since 2020, when the city and McKinney Community Development Corp. began purchasing the property.

Also on the agenda: In the same meeting, council members also approved a resolution authorizing a contract with Parkhill to conduct a feasibility study for a proposed recreation center in north McKinney. It’s a separate project that would be located on more than 110 acres purchased by the city in January.

Cafe Zupas offers protein bowls, soups in McKinney

Cafe Zupas is now open in McKinney, staff at the location confirmed.

The restaurant offers a variety of salads and protein bowls, such as the hot honey cottage cheese bowl, the Southwest avocado bowl and the California cobb salad. Customizable bowls are also available.

Other menu items include sandwiches such as the Italian club and soups including lobster bisque and tomato basil, its website states. Desserts include the chocolate strawberry cup.

The McKinney location features a drive thru and offers delivery and catering services. Cafe Zupas has over 75 locations across eight states, according to its website.

Royal Roastery now serving Middle Eastern roasted nuts, sweets in Richardson

The third and largest location of the New Orleans-based dessert shop opened April 4, roasting around 80 different kinds of nuts in-house and serving sweets including cheesecake, baklava, crepes and coffee.

According to Royal Roastery’s social media, it is also planning to open an additional Richardson location on Campbell Road.
