Bomber Energy offers 'energy for a cause' in Montgomery

With the mission to give back to the community, Jerry Nash and Joe Haliti opened Bomber Energy in 2024. The energy drink business is based in Montgomery and focuses on supporting local first responders, veterans, foster kids and charitable causes, while offering a more health-conscious energy drink. With the tag line “get energy for a cause,” Bomber Energy offers energy drinks in over 70 stores in Montgomery County and has donated $10,000 to Love Heals Youth, a nonprofit organization that offers counseling services to local foster care youth.

The drink menu: After months of experimenting with the formula and amid high demand for sugar-free energy drink options, Bomber Energy settled on four energy drinks, including:

  • Original Bomber Energy made with cane sugar
  • Sugar-free Bomber Energy, a zero-sugar blend of B vitamins, taurine, caffeine and adaptogens, or natural substances that help the body adapt to stress

Bomber Energy drinks are also offered online directly to consumers via the company website, Nash said.

Montgomery County to take over Old Conroe Road project after Conroe OKs transfer

Conroe City Council approved an interlocal agreement Jan. 22 that shifts sponsorship of the Old Conroe Road project to Montgomery County—handing over design documents and any acquired right of way to move the long-planned roadway expansion forward.

The gist: Montgomery County Precinct 2 Commissioner Charlie Riley said in a news release that the county will assume leadership after the city abandoned the effort in May 2025, putting federal funding at risk.

The project calls for extending Old Conroe Road from South Loop 336 to FM 1488, building a new bridge crossing the San Jacinto River and widening the corridor into a four-lane roadway, according to the agreement.

How we got here: In May 2025, Conroe City Council voted to reallocate capital improvement funding previously set aside for the Old Conroe Road project, citing rising costs, a lack of county participation at the time and urgent water system needs; the vote passed 4-1, with Mayor Pro Tem Howard Wood as the lone no vote, as Community Impact previously reported.

What to know ahead of Texas’ Feb. 2 voter registration deadline

The March 3 primary election is coming up, and so is the deadline to register to vote. Eligible Texans must register by Feb. 2 to cast votes in dozens of races, including 18 statewide officials, 38 members of Congress, 166 state legislators and various local seats, such as county judges and commissioners.

How to register: Texans must submit a paper voter registration application by Feb. 2. Applications can be mailed to their county elections office or delivered in-person.

To avoid delivery delays under new federal postmark rules, prospective voters may requests that mailed applications be hand-stamped at a local post office.

The big picture: Texas holds primaries for partisan elected positions at the federal, state, regional and local levels. Republican and Democratic primary voters will have a say in which candidates will represent their chosen political party on the November ballot, shaping who is ultimately elected to each seat.

In recent years, no more than one-fourth of registered Texas voters have cast ballots in primary elections, state data shows.

Q&A: Get to know the Republican primary candidates for Texas lieutenant governor

Four Republican candidates are running for Texas lieutenant governor—the second-in-command to the governor—in the upcoming March 3 primary election.

The big picture: Republican incumbent Dan Patrick is seeking a fourth term in the lieutenant governor's office. The lieutenant governor leads the Texas Senate and can exercise the powers of the governor if the governor dies, resigns, is removed from office or is absent from the state, according to the Texas State Historical Association.

Patrick is challenged by three Republican candidates: Timothy Mabry, Perla Muñoz Hopkins and Esala Wueschner. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes in the Republican primary, a runoff election will be held between the two top vote-getters May 26.

Stay tuned: The winning Republican candidate will face the winner of the Democratic nomination in November. The winner of that election will be sworn in for a four-year term in January 2027.
