College Station asks residents which retailers they want to see next

After residents named Waffle House the most-requested restaurant in a previous city survey, College Station is now asking what stores and shopping brands they want to see next.

The details: The latest Shape College Station survey asks residents to name a retailer they’d like to see in the city. The survey is open through Nov. 30.

Grow College Station, the city’s economic development team, uses responses to help identify demand and make the case to retailers considering new markets. The city does not decide which businesses open locally, but resident feedback can help guide recruitment priorities, according to a news release.

“Retailers are paying attention to College Station right now, and the strongest thing we can bring to the table is proof that our residents want them here,” Chief Development Officer Michael Ostrowski said in a statement.

The local impact: The survey comes as College Station’s retail scene continues to expand, with Sprouts Farmers Market, new stores at Century Square and the recently announced Bass Pro Shops.

Survey results will be shared in December.
