Seventeen Katy-Fulshear restaurants are set to take part in the 23rd year of Houston Restaurant Weeks from Aug. 1 to Sept. 7.

Staying local: Over 350 participating restaurants will offer specially priced prix fixe brunch, lunch and dinner menus ranging from $25 to $55, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Houston Food Bank, Community Impact reported. Brunch and lunch are $25, with dinner options priced at $39 or $55.

Before you go: Restaurants interested in participating in the event can submit a contact form on the HRW website until July 25. The list of participating restaurants will be updated daily leading up to the start of the event Aug. 1.

Blue Eagle Fitness & Nutrition is relocating to a new location in downtown Fulshear, owner Bryan White confirmed. The gym—which is currently located at 30415 5th Street Ste. C in Fulshear—broke ground on the new 5,900-square-foot gym in January.

What they offer: Since opening in 2018, the gym has offered CrossFit classes at varying experience levels along with nutrition coaching, according to its website. Programs are also available for seniors.

Harris County Commissioners Adrian Garcia, Tom Ramsey and Lesley Briones will each host a community town hall to discuss county budget initiatives and get feedback on how residents would like to see public funds utilized.

Gov. Greg Abbott named Robert S. Howden, one of his senior advisers and his office's legislative director, as Texas' 116th secretary of state effective July 18. Howden will succeed Secretary of State Jane Nelson, who resigned effective July 17 more than three years after she took office.

As the state's chief elections officer, Howden will be responsible for overseeing the application of Texas election laws and assisting local election officials. The secretary of state's office also manages business records, government rules and regulations, and other official duties.

Following Abbott's appointment, Howden must be confirmed for the position by at least two-thirds of the Texas Senate. The state Legislature's next regular session will begin in January.
