McKinney council to consider zoning for senior housing development

McKinney City Council members will consider new zoning in May for a proposed senior living community north of US 380.

The setup: Council members are scheduled to meet May 19 for a work session and regular meeting. The regular meeting agenda includes a zoning case for nearly 10.5 acres near the northeast corner of Lake Forest Drive and US 380.

If approved by council, the property would be rezoned for development of apartments and commercial space. McKinney’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to recommend zoning approval in April.

Also on the agenda: Council members are also scheduled to vote on a contract with Kimley-Horn for traffic analysis and preliminary design of a roundabout at the intersection of Glen Oaks Drive and Ridge Road. McKinney officials last discussed a potential roundabout at the intersection in March.

The regular meeting agenda includes consideration of several more contracts that are related to city projects.
