Celina Council rejects proposed Honda dealership

Celina City Council denied a rezoning request for City Limits Honda, a proposed car dealership along the Dallas North Tollway, at a Jan. 13 meeting.

What they’re saying: A number of residents from nearby neighborhoods spoke in opposition to the dealership, citing concerns about security, noise and traffic.

Council member Philip Ferguson, who spoke in favor of the dealership, said that as Celina grows, car dealerships will be inevitable.

Looking ahead: Several residents and council members, who opposed the rezoning request, said they're interested in developing a Honda dealership in Celina, just at a different location.

Candidate filing opens for Prosper, Celina races

The candidate filings opened Jan. 14 in Prosper and Celina.

What you need to know: The filing period to apply for a place on the ballot runs Jan. 14-Feb. 13 for the May 2 election.

The ballot will include races for Prosper Town Council, Prosper ISD board of trustees, Celina City Council and Celina ISD board of trustees.

Election packets can be found online or picked up from the respective entities an applicant is looking to serve. They will also need to be submitted before the application deadline to the respective service locations.

Frisco Chamber of Commerce to move to a larger office in the Rail District

The Frisco Chamber of Commerce is expanding by moving to a larger office.

The details: The chamber purchased 7511 Main St., Stes. 200 and 300, located within the Rail District at Patios at the Rail, according to a Jan. 14 chamber news release.

Quote of note: “This new space allows us to dream bigger to impact our members and our community,” said Christal Howard, president and CEO of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, in a release.

Looking ahead: Following minor renovations, the Frisco Chamber anticipates relocating to its new office space by July 2026. Additional plans for the new project will be shared at the Frisco Chamber’s Annual Awards Gala on Feb. 20 at Omni PGA Frisco Resort.
