SpringHill Suites by Marriott New Braunfels River Village is almost complete.

The update: The 8-story, 150-key hotel, located along the Guadalupe River at 738 I-35 N. frontage road, will be opening in January 2027, according to its website and Sales Coordinator Adriana Canales.

More details: SpringHill Suites by Marriott New Braunfels River Village, developed by Oldham Goodwin, will feature Fort Worth-based Tex-Mex restaurant Paloma Suerte. Paloma Suerte serves birria tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and more.

The hotel will also feature a two-tier pool equipped with a bar and private cabanas, along with a 1,328-square-foot fitness center. SpringHill Suites by Marriott New Braunfels River Village will also have 4,400 square feet of event space, as previously reported by Community Impact.

A locally owned New Braunfels meat company has changed its name.

What’s happening: 1845 Meat Company changed its name after merging with Ranch House Mesquite Smoked Meats on Sept. 21, according to a news release. The meat company’s new name is 1845 Ranch House Smoked Meats.

The merger aims to bring together both businesses' “quality products” and “flavorful smoked meat traditions,” according to the release. The merger allows the Ranch House Smoked Meats brand, founded by Max and Marsha Stabel in 1978, to continue as part of 1845 Meat Company’s platform with extended capabilities.

1845 Meat Company CEO Joe Tays said Ranch House is special and he respects what they have built.

“Bringing Ranch House into the 1845 family is about honoring that legacy while strengthening it with resources and experience we’ve developed,” Tays said in the release.

Heavy rainfall and potential flash flooding will threaten large parts of Texas this week, Gov. Greg Abbott told reporters Sept. 28.

The overview: The governor pointed to severe flooding that occurred in South-Central Texas in mid-July, damaging property, sweeping cars off roadways and killing two people. This week's storms will impact "a far more vast portion of the state" than the July flooding, he warned.

The details: Abbott said heavy rains will "really dramatically affect" the majority of the state on Sept. 30, and the National Weather Service noted that "North-Central Texas is a particular concern."

"We don't have the information needed right now to advise Texans on exactly what's going to happen in our rivers," Abbott told reporters. "I can tell you this, however: Everyone should expect the rivers to rise."

A Round Rock hospital is the first in the greater Austin area to offer a new, minimally invasive treatment for artery blockages.

The overview: St. David's Round Rock Medical Center announced Sept. 1 that it began offering the percutaneous transmural arterial bypass procedure, which creates an alternate pathway for blood to flow around a blocked artery, according to a news release.

The PTAB procedure was first performed by vascular surgeons Drs. Nicolas Zea and Kofi Quaye at St. David's Round Rock.

The treatment is generally recommended for patients with peripheral artery disease, a condition that limits blood flow to the legs, the release states.
