Two candidates are running for a Roanoke City Council Ward 2 seat for the upcoming May 2 local election.

What you need to know: Roanoke City Council called a special election at the Jan. 27 meeting to fill the vacated council positions for Ward 1 and Ward 2. Former council members Bryan Moyers and Hogan Page stepped down because they are moving out of Roanoke and can no longer serve on council, according to previous reporting.

Candidates Jonathan Ackmann and Ernie Adams now are vying for the council seat.

9 city charter changes on ballot for Fort Worth voters in May

Fort Worth residents will have 15 total propositions on the May 2 ballot.

The city called for a bond package of $845 million, which will help fund capital projects and will not raise the current tax levy, according to previous Community Impact reporting.

Those will be listed Proposition A to F on the ballot. In addition, Propositions G to O will be listed to make changes to the city charter.

Zooming in: A city charter is a foundational legal document that serves as a city's government structure, operating procedure and powers. The city of Fort Worth established its charter in 1924, according to city documents.

During a council work session on Feb. 3, Assistant City Attorney Gavin Midgley said the propositions are conforming changes to align with state law, either election law or election-code related.

Other propositions are to clarify the duties of the city manager’s office, he said.

What else? Early voting in Fort Worth for the charter updates will run from April 20-28. Election day is May 2.

DART, Trinity Metro, Denton County Transportation Authority release new regional fare pricing

Trinity Metro, Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Denton County Transportation Authority updated and created a more consistent pricing structure across partner agencies, which started March 1, according to a news release.

The regional one-day ticket price was lowered, while regional reduced fares have been adjusted as part of the alignment to ensure long-term consistency and sustainability in regional pricing, the news release states.

What’s happened: The updated fare is $9 for a one-day ticket, and the cost for monthly tickets is $192. The new reduced regional fare is $4.50 for a one-day ticket and $96 for a monthly ticket.

To purchase a reduced fare, customers must present valid identification, be between the ages of 5 to 19 years old or 65 years or older, or be a person with a disability or a Medicare cardholder, according to a news release.

Mad Greens, Great American Bakery Cafe, Chili’s Bar and Grill coming to DFW Airport

The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport will have new dining options coming to terminals A and D.

During the DFW Airport board of directors meetings, new and amended leases were approved for various concessions.

What’s happening? In Terminal A, a lease with Mitchell Olsen Partners DFW LLC was amended for a quick-serve salad location near Gate A pier for Mad Greens. The restaurant, with four locations in the Austin area, serves salad, bowls and wraps, according to its online menu. The restaurant replaces Salad and Go, which closed all its Texas locations earlier this year, according to previous reporting.

Long story short: There were three changes approved for Terminal D.

A Great American Bakery location will be going in near Gate D34 and will be operated by Java Star Inc. There was a lease assumption from Host Java DFW, which operated The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at that same location.

Trinity Groves Bar, near Gate D2, will become Chili’s Margarita Bar, and the Trinity Groves Kitchen will be replaced by Chili’s Bar and Grill.
