Fort Worth residents' water and wastewater charges will increase for various customers if the proposed fiscal year 2026-27 budget is approved by City Council.

The takeaway: The Water Utility Fund for the next fiscal year is nearly $732.73 million, which is an increase of 8.7% compared to this fiscal year, according to a city news release. A portion of that budget increase includes a 3.6% rate increase for water and a 2.85% rate increase for wastewater, according to the budget proposal.

The rate changes, if approved, would not take effect until Jan. 1, 2027.

The details: The increases impact both the volume and fixed monthly charges for various customers. There are no proposed changes to volume rates for customers in the first and second tiers, which are used for tasks such as cleaning and cooking.

However, customers under the third and fourth tiers, who use irrigation to water lawns, will see an increase.

OrbInSpire Games will be moving from North Fort Worth to Keller this fall.

The expansion will allow for a larger space for more gaming events. According to Kat Hernandez, a co-owner with Ali Elqutob, the events are considered a backbone of the business, which opened June 13, 2025.

The details: The store is currently located at 5970 Park Vista Circle, Unit 178B. Hernandez said updates on the opening in Keller, inside the Bear Creek Plaza shopping center, will be posted on its social media channels.

She said the goal for the expansion is to have more space for those to play table games such as Magic, Pokémon, Warhammer and Dungeons & Dragons, to name a few.

Zooming in: The new location will be able to host up to 100 people for events, more than triple the current ability in the Fort Worth store. There will also be a shopping area for card games, model building and tabletop games.

This November, Libertarian Ted Brown, Republican Ken Paxton and Democrat James Talarico are running to be Texas' next U.S. senator.

The overview: Each state has two U.S. senators serving staggered terms, with Ted Cruz and John Cornyn currently representing Texas. Cornyn ran for reelection but lost his primary race, and the winner of the November election will replace him in January.

Paxton advanced to the general election after beating Cornyn in a primary runoff, while Talarico beat two other contenders in the Democratic primary, Community Impact reported. Brown was selected as the Texas Libertarian Party's candidate during an April nominating convention.

At the polls: Early voting runs from Oct. 19-30 for dozens of statewide and local races. Election Day is Nov. 3.
