College Station approves letter of intent for baseball complex in Midtown

College Station City Council members unanimously approved a letter of intent Feb. 26 with The Station Hospitality and Athletic Complex, a 90-acre proposed baseball and softball complex with lodging and amenities in Midtown.

The letter of intent will guide negotiations for future agreements with the developer, including economic development, real estate and lease agreements for the project, said Michael Ostrowski, College Station’s chief development officer, during the meeting.

In a nutshell: The Station Baseball LLC brought a proposal to the council in October for a nine-field baseball complex in Midtown, which would include a championship field as the home of The Brazos Valley Bombers—a summer collegiate baseball team, Community Impact previously reported.

By the numbers: Ostrowski said the project is estimated to yield an annual economic impact of $28 million and about 60,000 hotel room bookings annually, based on the projected number of tournaments hosted at the complex.

Going forward: According to city information, the letter of intent is nonbinding and does not obligate the city or developer to proceed.

Brazos County approves $974K increase to administration building renovations

Brazos County commissioners approved additional renovation work on the Brazos County Administration Building during a Feb. 24 meeting, increasing the contract amount with construction firm Flintco by $974,949.83.

This will increase the cost of renovations 6.56%—to just under $15.84 million—according to county information.

What’s happening? Renovations to the county administration building at 200 S. Texas Avenue, Bryan, are part of the county’s Capital Improvement Program with $18.5 million budgeted from the capital improvement fund, per the capital improvement plan for fiscal years 2026-30.

The action taken: At the Feb. 24 meeting, commissioners unanimously approved the cost increase, which is necessary to address added water damage and aging infrastructure discovered during demolition of the space, Lansdown said.

What’s next: The additional work needed extends the construction contract with Flintco another 60 days, meaning the project is slated to be substantially complete in May 2027, Lansdown said.
