Happyland Playground now open in Spring

Happyland Playground opened its indoor playground to the public July 25, owner Iyari Guzman said.

What you need to know: The playground offers attractions for children ages 2-12 to explore. The facility also offers a coffee bar, high-speed Wi-Fi and a full concession area for family meals.

Election News
Candidates set for Tomball ISD November election

Tomball voters will have multiple candidates to consider in the upcoming Nov. 3 election for the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees.

On the Tomball ballot: Candidate filings for Positions 1 and 3 closed on Aug. 17.

Tomball ISD, Position 1

  • Patrick Beecher (incumbent)
  • Lacey Derrington

Tomball ISD, Position 3

  • John McStravick (incumbent)
  • Joseph Ferguson

What to expect: The election will take place Nov. 3, with early voting running from Oct. 19-30, according to the Harris County website. Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on election day, and from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. for early voting.

Texas’ first hand roll-centered sushi bar to expand presence to Bellaire Boulevard

With three existing locations in the Heights, Montrose and Spring Branch areas, Japanese sushi restaurant Handies Douzo is expanding once again with a new space located at 3908 Bellaire Blvd., Houston, officials confirmed via email. Handies Douzo is one of seven chef-driven concepts brought to fruition by restaurant group Duckstache Hospitality, which seeks to reinvent traditional Japanese cuisine through innovative culinary techniques, design-forward spaces and modern aesthetics, officials said.
