Midline announces homebuilder lineup, initial pricing for Phase 1
The homebuilder lineup and anticipated pricing for the first phase of 1,000-acre community Midline have been announced by Harris County homebuilder Brookfield Residential, according to a Sept. 18 news release from Midline.
The gist: Midline is a residential project with multiple parks and more than a dozen miles of trails. The project plans for 2,800 single-family homes, the news release notes.
The initial phase of Midline will have over 270 homesites in six lot sizes.
Overall pricing is expected to start in the high $300,000s and range upward to over $800,000, according to the news release.
Builders for the first phase of Midline include the following:
Brookfield Residential: building on homesites measuring 40, 50 and 60 feet
Highland Homes: building on homesites measuring 45 feet
Perry Homes: building on homesites measuring 55 feet
Toll Brothers: building on homesites measuring 70 feet
New facility focused on flexibility to open in League City
StretchLab is set to open in early October in the Magnolia Creek area, featuring a 25 or 50-minute private session, according to the gym’s website.
What they offer: StretchLab offers assisted stretching to improve range of motion and flexibility, and reduce pain and tension. The sessions are based on the client’s specific needs, focusing on problem areas or targeting certain muscle groups.
Additionally, StretchLab offers Normatec Compression Therapy, which can improve circulation, flexibility and muscle recovery.
A closer look: To personalize sessions, StretchLab uses scanning technology to create a full-body assessment of each client.
American Cancer Society, Occidental partner to expand access to cancer care in Texas
Per a Sept. 12 press release, the American Cancer Society and Occidental have partnered to expand access to life-saving cancer treatment to patients across Texas. Occidental’s half-million-dollar donation will help the American Cancer Society continue to deliver the resources patients need to access cancer care that could save their lives.
The details: With the new contribution, Occidental is helping fund essential access to care programs that remove barriers often standing between diagnosis and survival for cancer patients, according to the release.
Programs the partnership is helping with include free lodging, rides to treatment and 24/7 support for cancer patients and caregivers.
Quote of note: “We are honored to contribute to the American Cancer Society and help remove barriers to accessing vital care so people can focus on their healing journey,” said Rob Stevens, vice president of supply chain with Occidental.
‘Renters are in a strong position’: Houston rental listings reach record high in August
The Houston rental market had a record number of available listings in August, according to the Houston Association of Realtors’ August 2025 Rental Market Update released Sept. 17.
A closer look: According to the release, there was a 3.1% increase in the number of single-family homes leased this August compared to the same time last year. At the same time, active listings surpassed 10,000 units in August.
Rental properties are taking a little longer to lease, however, with an average of 35 days on the market compared to 32 days a year ago.

The owner of Sambrooks Hospitality, Michael Sambrooks, announced in a Sept. 16 news release that he has taken over the lease at Mandito's Tex-Mex in Bellaire, which closed over the weekend, and intends to rebrand it as Candente.
Candente is an industrial-style Tex-Mex restaurant that opened in Montrose in 2019. It is known for fajitas, carne asada, chicken and seafood cooked over a wood-fired grill. The spot also provides classic cocktails, such as margaritas, tequila flights and ranch waters.
Sambrooks said that the Bellaire location will serve the same menu of handcrafted Tex-Mex staples and classic cocktails as the Montrose location.
