Mountain Mike’s Pizza to bring 2nd location to McKinney

Mountain Mike’s Pizza is set to open a second location in McKinney next year, a representative of the company confirmed.

The specifics: According to its website, the business offers a variety of classic and specialty pizzas. Other menu items include chicken wings, side dishes, salads and sandwiches. Mountain Mike’s Pizza also offers desserts such as the pizza cookie and the cinnamon dessert pizza. Participating Mountain Mike's Pizza locations offer an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet.

Also of note: The first Mountain Mike’s Pizza location in McKinney opened at 4590 W. University Drive in July. A grand opening event for the University Drive location is schedule for noon-4 p.m., Nov. 1, and will include free miniature pizzas for the first 100 customers, concert ticket giveaways, raffles, activities for children and more.

Texas Health starts construction on new patient tower in Plano

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano is moving forward with its $343 million infrastructure expansion project after breaking ground on a new patient tower Oct. 21.

What you need to know: The $343 million expansion includes a 696-space parking garage, which opened in November 2024, and the new patient tower, which is expected to open fall 2028. The 300,000-square-foot tower will be eight stories, with three additional floors of shell space for future expansion efforts, according to a news release from the hospital.

Zooming in: Texas Health Resources CEO Barclay Berdan said health care providers must plan to accommodate the rapidly increasing population of Collin County. According to the release, the hospital plans to have 563 beds in total once the expansion is complete, including just under 400 licensed acute and critical care beds.
