New wedding and event venue opens in New Braunfels

A new event and wedding venue has opened for the 2026-2027 wedding season along the Comal River in New Braunfels.

What we know: Canopy on the Comal opened on Jan. 6 at 444 E. San Antonio St. and is now accepting reservations for the upcoming season, company officials confirmed in an email to Community Impact.

The venue is owned and operated by husband-and-wife duo Greg and Monique Weston. The Westons also oversee 444 Tubing Company, according to previous reporting from Community Impact.

Canopy on the Comal offers both indoor and outdoor spaces for weddings, parties and corporate events. The venue’s total capacity is approximately 700 guests, while indoor rooms can hold anywhere between 100 and 200 people, according to the email.

Looking ahead: To kick off the season at the venue, a free open house will take place on Feb. 26 from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The event will feature a free yoga class, coffee and cookies.

Uncharted Tiki Bar closes inside The Phoenix Saloon in New Braunfels

Uncharted Tiki Bar, located in the basement of The Phoenix Saloon, has closed its doors in downtown New Braunfels.

Some details: The bar closed Jan. 13, according to a Facebook post from the business.

“The intention was always to give it a year and then re-evaluate. After much soul searching we have decided to go in a different direction,” the post states.

The tiki bar opened in December 2024 and served a variety of cocktails, as previously reported by Community Impact.

San Antonio-born Jefferson Bank celebrates 80 years with opening of new branch

Opening its first branch in San Antonio in 1946, the financial institution has been serving residents for decades.

What we know: According to a news release, Jefferson Bank announced the opening of a new branch in Alamo Heights on Feb. 9 to kick off its 80th-anniversary celebration throughout 2026.

“This new banking center reflects our continued investment in San Antonio and our belief that banking is strongest when it is personal, accessible and rooted in the community,” Mitch Walker, the chief executive officer of Jefferson Bank, said in the release.

The banking conglomerate currently has 15 locations serving residents throughout the entire San Antonio metro area, from Boerne to New Braunfels. Their newest branch is located at 7373 Broadway, Ste. 100.

The context: “As the bank celebrates its 80th anniversary, it continues to pursue thoughtful growth, enhancing access and capabilities while preserving its independence and local ownership,” the news release states.
