Unofficial voting results show a majority of Round Rock ISD voters, or 52.3%, oppose a ballot measure that would raise school property taxes to fund staff raises.
In a nutshell: If it passed, Proposition A would have raised the district's tax rate by six cents to generate funds needed to provide a 2% general pay raise for all employees, increase starting teacher pay to $58,000 and address pay compression throughout the district.
This would have resulted in a annual tax bill roughly $219 higher for a home of average taxable value, according to the district.
The measure came at a time when officials said legislative efforts around school funding have limited what the district can do to increase pay for nonteaching staff.
