Frisco rezones 2 acres in west Frisco to allow townhomes, offices

Frisco City Council approved the potential development of townhomes or offices in west Frisco. 

The details: Frisco City Council unanimously approved zoning changes to a 2.1-acre lot off FM 423 from agricultural to planned development with a focus on townhomes and office during a July 7 meeting. 

The site currently has an automotive repair shop located on the north end of the site, but the rest is undeveloped.

Halal Buns to bring crispy chicken sandwiches, handcrafted milkshakes to Frisco

Fast-casual gourmet burger restaurant Halal Buns is set to open in Frisco this month, pending final inspections.

The details: At Halal Buns, burgers are made with fresh, never frozen beef, and chicken dishes are made using hormone- and antibiotic-free chicken. All meats are 100% Zabiha Halal, sourced from suppliers the company says are committed to quality and humane standards. Sauces are also made from scratch.

Menu items include crispy chicken sandwiches, chicken loaded fries, crispy wings and handcrafted milkshakes.

What they’re saying: "Our mission is simple: to serve exceptional food made with high quality ingredients in a welcoming environment where everyone feels at home,” Rida Niazi, Halal Buns founder, said in an email.

Cotton Patch Cafe acquired by Dallas-based restaurant group

Texan restaurant chain Cotton Patch Cafe announced that it has been acquired by Local Favorite Restaurants.

The overview: The chain announced June 29 that Local Favorite Restaurants had acquired Cotton Patch Cafe from Altamont Capital Partners.

Local Favorite Restaurants currently owns and operates other Texas restaurants, such as El Fenix Mexican Restaurant, Snuffer's Restaurant & Bar, Twisted Root Burger Company and Meso Maya.

Looking back: Cotton Patch Cafe originally opened in Nacogdoches, Texas, in 1989. Since then, Cotton Patch Cafe has served up Southern-style cooking at 46 locations across Texas and New Mexico. Despite becoming a chain, Cotton Patch Cafe has kept its original scratch-made recipes as well as its $9.99 Texas Value Meals.
