Wine tasting, wildflower festival: things to do in The Woodlands area, Oct. 16-18

Activities in The Woodlands area planned this weekend include a wine tasting and free concert. This list is not comprehensive, and events are subject to change.

Wine tasting and fundraising
A wine tasting will be held to benefit the Montgomery County Food Bank at Cellar 24. Ticket sales and 20% of retail wine purchases from the event will be donated the the food bank. Attendees can stroll through the wine bar and taste wines from around the world.

The Woodlands Wildflower Festival
Attendees can celebrate art and nature at The Woodlands Wildflower Festival, featuring wildflower crafts, bounce houses, face painting, a DJ, food trucks and a bluebonnet planting booth.

Gameday Men’s Health expands to The Woodlands with wellness-focused clinic

Gameday Men’s Health Woodlands West, a concierge medical service for men and women, reopened Oct. 1, family nurse practitioner Warren Rose confirmed.

What they offer: The business specializes in testosterone health, weight loss therapy as well as peptides and vitamin therapy, according to its website. Rose said consultations are complimentary and nonobligatory. 

According to its website, the business has 40 locations around Texas, including one in Spring along Gosling Drive. Rose said they opened The Woodlands location due to a gap in the system and area where life-enhancing therapies are not available.

Key Information
Montgomery County approves funding for road bond projects

Montgomery County commissioners approved two new engineering contracts Oct. 14 as part of the $480 million road bond program.

What you need to know: The court authorized a $132,045 agreement with HR Green Inc. for design and engineering services related to a project on Rayford Road at Discovery Creek Boulevard in Precinct 3. The project will add a signalized intersection and left-turn lanes to improve traffic flow and safety, according to the agenda.

What else: In Precinct 1, commissioners approved an agreement with LJA Engineering Inc. totaling about $1.87 million for the Lone Star Parkway expansion from FM 149 to Hwy. 105. The contract will follow a milestone-based payment method, with each installment capped at $1 million until completion.

8 events to celebrate Dia de los Muertos across the Greater Houston area

There are several Dia de los Muertos events going on across the Greater Houston area to honor the lives of loved ones who have died. Here are a few: 

Dia de los Muertos Celebration: Experience Dia de los Muertos at City Place Plaza with a combination of music, food, family activities and culture. The event will feature an Azteca indigenous dance performance, live music, photo opportunities and pop-up craft activities.

The event will also have a La Catrina and El Catrin costume contest, and a large community altar to place photos of loved ones.
