Shady Grove Road

Project
: A detour started July 7 to repair a portion of Shady Grove Road between Rapp Road and Keller Smithfield Road. The original project was completed in June 2024, but staff and residents noticed cracks on the road. The eastbound lane, near 7210 Shady Grove, needs additional repairs to stabilize the soil under the roadway and account for the effects of nearby tree roots, according to the city’s Facebook page.

Update: A detour from Shady Grove Road will go to North Tarrant Parkway and Bear Creek Parkway. The work should take about three weeks from the July 7 start date, according to a social media post.

  • Cost: $1.27 million (original contract)

Hillwood announces construction of new industrial building in Fort Worth

Hillwood is constructing a 1.2-million-square-foot Class A speculative industrial building in the Alliance Logistics District.

According to a news release, construction has started and is expected to be complete by July 2027. The building, called Alliance Westport 16, is in AllianceTexas, a 27,000-acre master-planned mixed-use development.

The details: Hillwood, a real estate and development company, had GSR Andrade Architects provide the design and civil engineering services were provided by Westwood for the facility, according to a news release. Hillwood Construction Services is the general contractor.

Alliance Westport 16 will feature:

  • 40-foot clear height
  • 620-foot building depth
  • 60-foot loading bays
  • 276 trailer parking spaces

Six Flags Over Texas 'Tormenta Rampaging Run' to now open July 9

Six Flags Over Texas has announced the new opening date for its first “giga dive coaster as July 9.

The new coaster was originally scheduled to open June 26, but was postponed because commissioning and test taking took longer than expected, per previous reporting.

The details: The Tormenta Rampaging Run reaches 309 feet above ground and has a 285-foot drop, according to the Six Flags website. Riders will be going at 87 miles-per-hour on a ride spanning more than four thousand feet.
