The Fort Worth City Council was presented with plans from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to borrow up to $3 billion this year and up to $9 billion for the next four years for various construction projects.

During the March 31 work session, Brian Butler, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport executive vice president and Chief Financial Officer, addressed the plans with council members.

Fort Worth City Council will vote on the request at the April 28 meeting, he said.

What’s happening? Butler said some of the major projects at DFW Airport are the new Terminal F, the expansion at Terminal C and redoing International Parkway, which includes removing the left-hand turn lanes.

“Whenever we're looking to issue debt, it does require the city of Fort Worth to improve the issuance of that debt. We've also been working to modernize our bond ordinances,” said Butler, who was at his first Fort Worth meeting.

A new Fabletics store will open in Tanger Outlets Fort Worth early this summer.

What's happening: A representative with Tanger Fort Worth confirmed that a suite in the outlet mall is being retrofitted for Fabletics. According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the store renovations will cost $350,000 and be finished by May 7.

Fabletics sells workout gear, lounge sets and accessories for men and women. The company website states there are more than 120 locations globally, including storefronts in Southlake and Plano.

What else? Tanger Outlets Fort Worth also announced a new Park Place amenity that features shaded seating, turf, new lighting and Texas-themed murals. 

The outlet center will host a ribbon-cutting at 11:30 a.m. April 15 to commemorate the new space and will have community events April 18-19.

Organizations and cities throughout North Texas showcased various transportation-related plans for the upcoming FIFA World Cup games.

Dallas Stadium, also known as AT&T Stadium, will host nine games between June 14 and July 14.

North Central Texas Council of Governments, along with the North Texas FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee, DART, Trinity Metro, Trinity Railway Express and the Texas Department of Transportation, were part of a press conference April 2 to discuss the myriad of travel options.

A closer look: The transportation plan includes the use of public transit, how to get to games and the FIFA Fan Festival, as well as what traffic would look like on various highways across North Texas.

According to the presentation, the final plan was submitted to FIFA on March 31.

The specifics: NCTCOG developed a creative approach for match day transportation, knowing FIFA spectators rely far more heavily on public transit than typical crowds at events at Dallas Stadium, Morris said.
