Grapevine officials have executed an economic development agreement with C&O Supply, a distributor of wire and cable for data center construction.

The agreement was executed July 8, according to city documents. Council approved a Chapter 380 Agreement, which allows Grapevine to use city funds for incentives or grants for economic development, during the April 21 meeting.

C&O Supply operates a Grapevine facility located at 1800 SH 121. Council members approved a conditional use permit to allow for a 22,730-square-foot outdoor storage area and the outdoor storage of 10 service and delivery vehicles, such as box trucks and service trailers, at the facility during the July 21 meeting.

The overview: For the term of the agreement, the city has pledged 50% of annual sales tax receipts from the business each year of the agreement. The term runs for 10 years or until C&O Supply has received $2.6 million in rebated sales tax receipts.

The yearly maximum sales tax grant is up to $400,000, per city documents.

Fast casual concept Tick Tock Taco plans to open its second location in Colleyville later this year.

What's on the menu: The restaurant sells “globally inspired” fusion tacos, said Anum Khan, co-owner and operator of Tick Tock Taco. The menu includes options such as:

• A carne asada taco

• A beef bulgogi taco

• A firecracker shrimp taco

All tacos on the menu are made with Halal and organic ingredients, according to the website.

1. Prosper Trail construction
Project: Prosper Trail will undergo a full pavement reconstruction from Coit Road to Custer Road. The new pavement section will be a four-lane concrete divided roadway.

Zonda Demographics provides enrollment projections for roughly 100 school districts in Texas, according to data from the company. Rocky Gardiner, the company's director of school district consulting, said the company produces both short-term and long-term projections, up to 10 years. 

The details: Gardiner said district leaders use the short-term, one-year projections to guide staffing and budget planning, and long-term projections to plan when to open or close a school.

“We have the technology to help them see what it looks like if a school gets closed or a school gets added with how that impacts their enrollment going forward,” Gardiner said.

Zooming in: Predicting school enrollment has become more complicated since COVID-19 due to more school options such as virtual schools, homeschooling and charter schools, Gardiner said.

When Gardiner first started doing enrollment projections in 2006, the projections were primarily based on new housing, with the development patterns showing an average of about six new public school students per 10 new homes built, but that number has dropped, Gardiner said.
