AI-driven Alpha Schools to open new Texas Sports Academy locations across Texas

Austin-based private school Alpha School is expanding with the opening of several new Texas Sports Academy locations across the state.

How it works: The sports-centric academies will allow students to receive athletic training while completing their academic coursework through an artificial intelligence platform known as 2 Hour Learning.

The overview: The following Texas Sports Academy campuses opened in Community Impact's coverage area in mid-October:

AIE Elite Prep

  • Address: 2001 N. Kenney Fort Blvd., Round Rock
  • Specialty area: basketball
  • Grades served: 6-8

The Bennett School
  • Address: 2626 W. Sam Houston Parkway N., Houston
  • Specialty area: baseball
  • Grades served: 6-12

Additionally, the following new academies are slated to open in Community Impact's coverage area over the next year:

Texas Sports Academy Gymnastics
  • Opening: January

Texas Sports Academy Cheer

The cost: Tuition rates for the campuses range from $5,000-$15,000 per year, according to Alpha School information.

 

FOODIE FRIDAY
Check out these new restaurants and bars opening across the San Antonio area.

A Mexican-inspired cafe and bakery has officially unveiled its newest location in the San Antonio metro.

La Panadería Bakery Café held a grand opening for the new eatery Dec. 17. The restaurant is located in the Stone Oak area at 1011 N. Loop 1604 E.

“Stone Oak is a vibrant and growing area, and we’re excited to bring La Panadería to a new part of the city,” owner Jose Cáceres said in a news release.

A fast-casual restaurant chain is continuing to expand this year, adding a brand new location in San Antonio.

Teriyaki Madness opened its 200th overall location Dec. 19, according to a news release from the chain. It’s located near the Stone Oak area at 18410 N. Hwy. 281.

The new restaurant is the chain’s fifth in San Antonio, and the second owned by franchisees Daniel Gifford and Gilbert Vergara.

“San Antonio knows good food and good people, which is exactly why Teriyaki Madness has been so loved here,” Gifford said in the release.
