Missouri City officials are looking for a long-term solution to increase connectivity for residents in Sienna as housing development in the area continues, Public Works Director Mustafa Albassam said.

The details: At a Sept. 21 meeting, Missouri City City Council approved an agreement with developer Toll-GTIS Property Owner LLC and Sienna Municipal Utility District No. 5 to address traffic circulation in the Sienna area. 

The project will widen Sienna Parkway and connect additional roads to FM 521 in an effort to ease traffic congestion, per agenda documents. 

The agreement includes: 

• Widening a portion of Sienna Parkway over the railroad tracks and the portion connecting to FM 521

• Building a new road connecting Sienna Lakes Drive to FM 521

• Building a new road connecting Park Crossing Drive to One Oak Chase Road, which ultimately connects the route to Fenn Road and FM 521.

Looking ahead: Albassam said roads must connect to FM 521 by December 2027, while the widening of Sienna Parkway over the railroad tracks is expected to be completed by 2029.

Dumont Creamery and Cafe opened its first Greater Houston location in Riverstone, an owner confirmed.

On the menu: The cafe offers coffee—with signature drinks including a date cardamom latte and a pistachio white mocha—and slushies, such as the mangonada and strawberry slushie. The cafe also has milk teas with tapioca. 

Dumont also offers ice cream and freshly baked pastries from local bakeries. 

Zooming out: The cafe, owned by Aadiyan Group, is set to open another location in Cypress in spring 2027, Community Impact reported.

The nonprofit organization United Way of Greater Houston announced Sept. 21 that CEO Amanda McMillian will retire on May 1, 2027. The board unanimously selected Angel Harris, the current vice president and chief advancement officer, to succeed her.

Harris will assume the president and CEO role immediately, while McMillian remains in her role through a nine-month transition.

A search for United Way's next chief advancement officer to replace Harris is currently underway, nonprofit officials said.

Something to note: United Way of Greater Houston is a nonprofit organization that connects residents in need with basic resources, financial stability programs, healthcare and support services, according to the organization's website.
